Minkah Taharkah

Minkah Taharkah is a multidisciplinary artist, environmental justice advocate, land steward, and designer & amateur developer from Leimert Park in Los Angeles, CA. Her current focus revolves around taking a holistic approach to issues involving urban & rural development. She is a UC Berkeley alumni as well as a former fellow with the Institute for Urban and Regional Development and a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. These experiences help ground her work statewide.

As an artist and land steward, she finds inspiration from the plants, seeds, flowers, and soil that she works with. She is the Coordinator for the California Farmer Justice Collaborative where she supports BIPOC growers across the state to get access to resources and build connections. She also holds the title of Director of Land & Programming with The Butterfly Movement, supporting Black women & girls through land, food, & art.
